Its a Mitzvah!

Before we start, we just want you to know that what you just did was a Mitzvah.

Checking whether the product you have is Kosher is a Mitzvah.

But what you did is even a greater Mitzvah than you think. Not only are you ensuring that you are eating Kosher, you are helping the fight to ensure that everyone eats Kosher. The final page of this site will explain.

Introduction

This site describes how our unique system works to ensure that the products protected by our security seal are indeed genuine.

ensures that the food you buy is Kosher.

is designed to make it impossible for a forger to succeed in passing off his counterfeit products.

These security seals enable you to check the product you are about to purchase or have purchased, and discover whether it is indeed genuine or a fake.

The name - Passport - describes the function of the security seal.

A national passport is used to uniquely identify the person presenting it - there is no other identical document in the world. These security seals too are unique. There is no other label in the world with exactly the same codes as the one you have.

A million packets of 250gm (8oz) sliced pastrami beef, packed by XYX Ltd, on 11/11/23, with expiry date 11/12/23, with an appropriate description "Beef Pastrami as You Like It" will have a million different security seals - each with its unique pair of numbers.

Overview

Here we will give a quick overview of the checking process. Later pages will describe it in more detail.

On each security seal you will find a QR (Quick Response) code

As well as the QR square you will also see two numbers.

Scanning the code with your Smartphone will enable you to go straight to the web site and check the codes on the label.

If you can't scan the code then you can instead go to the web site as printed on the seal (444‑444‑444.net) and there enter the two codes shown on the label.

Checking authenticity via the web is very simple.

You will first see a pop-up question

where you confirm that you are purchasing the item or not.

Next will be shown an image like at the top-right of this page. Look at it carefully. It contains all the details of your product.

If it shows the exact details of your product then you know it is genuine.

If the details do not match or you are shown a warning message instead, then there is a problem and you must follow the instructions on the screen.

See the following pages for detailed instructions on how to check and what to do in the event of problems.

Protection Features

What are the problems with traditional kashrus seals?

  • The vast majority are simply printed logos of a kashrus agency.
  • They cost next to nothing to copy. They provide zero security. See the example at the top-left of this page. The forgery is no different from the original.
  • For high risk items, like meat and fish, small hologram labels are frequently used. Many believe they are impossible to forge, or are too expensive to forge. Neither is true. Even a bad forgery will pass as genuine as only a professional will know what a real one looks like.

How does protect you?

  • Each seal is a single-use item. It can only be used on the product to which it was attached.
  • If you take a seal from a cheap item and attach it to something different, the description you see when you check it will not match the item you are holding.
  • If you take a seal from a genuine packet and make many copies and put it many counterfeit identical items, it will quickly be discovered. As soon as an item is sold, a scan of an identical label will immediately show there is a problem.
  • Any forgery will be quickly detected and it will be impossible to sell further items with the forged labels. Forgers will quickly learn that its pointless to try again as it will be quickly detected and they will be left unsellable stock.
  • When you confirm that you have
